New to ebikes and this will be my first one. Demoed a 2020 commencal meta 29 and enjoyed it.

Have a 2021 team on preorder but the ep8 hold has me questioning it. Have a line on a norco range vlt. Looking at the geo it's actually pretty close except for a longer reach. Obviously the wheels and travel are different. Can anyone tell me if those two bike will be drastically different? The main thing I like about the commy is they are in Colorado and I'm local, and the updated battery size. I'm sure the motor is better but the steps 8000 I rode was still nice. The norco matches the battery capacity and I could potentially have it in the garage real soon vs waiting till February (per the Commencal site).....thoughts?

I haven’t ridden a Range but I’ve clocked up some time on a C2 Sight and it’s a beast, I can only assume the Range is of a similar ilk.

I own a Commencal 20’ Meta Team and it’s fkn awesome!! Totally composed in all the terrain I’ve thrown at it. The only downside I’d put forward is the 500w battery, but that has been resolved in the new model.

The Steps 8000 is a fantastic motor, plenty of smooth power. There are varied reviews on the EP8, but I’m sure it’s a further step up.

When you’re talking the models you are, you really can’t go wrong with either. The Commencal will be a more nimble bike all round with the Range more dominant in the heavy down hill sections. Probably depends more on how you like to ride.
