Hey everybody. Posting from the Valley Forge area of Pennsylvania and considering an EMTB purchase. I ride the flat trails on my gravel bike regularly, but venturing into the steeper trails with my analog hardtail is often an exhausting and frustrating experiece now that I'm in my mid-50s. I'm hoping an EMTB will help me get out on the trails more. Looking forward to discussions.

Virtually all of the trail systems in the area are eMTB friendly, and lots of local shops now have decent experience with selling and servicing them. One key question: will you primarily ride alone, with other "regular" MTB users, or with other eMTB users? Also, what's your overall level of fitness and do you want your eMTB rides to be a good working? That would help guide recommendations on what bike(s) might be a good fit.

Thanks for the info. I'm not very confident in my fitness level so I do want to use my riding as a workout to improve strength and stamina. Mostly a solo rider, but I may seek out riding groups once I get more confident. Currently looking at the Orbea Rise H30, I like the idea of a lighter bike and it seems upgradable as my needs might change in the future. Also, a nearby LBS is a dealer and will finally have one in my size soon. It is also more friendly on the budget than other bikes I've looked at.

The Rise is a great option! The only scenario where it wouldn't be ideal is if the others in your group are on full power eMTBs. Enjoy!
