Non Spesh sanctioned Shimano Di2 installation on a Levo Comp Carbon

I picked up a XTR Di2 mini group for my Levo Comp Carbon and my LBS will be installing it next week. I'm wondering if anyone else has installed Di2 on their Levo and where you stuck the battery? Seems like the most logical place is the steer tube but my bike came with the SWAT tool in the steer tube/ stem. I don't mind losing the SWAT tool if need be but wondered if there were options for battery installation.

EDIT: read last post, Spesh doesn't recommend installing Di2 on the LEVO. I'm doing it anyhow!

Hey Croz, Did you find a place to install the di2 battery? i tried inserting it into the top tube by taking out the on/off power display, but it wouldnt quite fit through the hole. I havent yet tried taking the shock out and seeing if it would fit in that way...

Also did you internally route the cable from the rear derailleur through the oem ducting? Did you have to drill out anything? Do you have to remove the motor to get the cable through?

Any feedback on your install would be great.

Thanks

Chris

My Levo goes to the LBS to install XTR on Wed. So far, what we've been able to determine is that the battery needs to go in the steer tube. That means the SWAT tool stash has to go.

Mechanic says we need a Gap Cap expander like this one and a steer tube battery holder like this one. I might also do a Shimano Pro stem that allows everything to be tucked away.

Here's a walk through that someone put together that details how to install Di2 on a mtb.

I'll try and take some photos to document the installation but I may not be able to be in the service area during the install because of Covid concerns.

Found out the install isn't going to happen until next week at the earliest due to Shimano shipping issues because of Covid. In the meantime, I have to do everything in my power to not rip the SRAM GX off my bike and throw it in the trash. Has anyone gotten GX to shif accurately more than a ride or two?!

Bike is at the shop and I just got a call from the mechanic. The Di2 install is not going to be easy and is going to involve removing the motor, battery, suspension linkage and a whole bunch of other stuff. Threading the wires through the frame is also going to be tough. They called Spesh for advice and were told they don't recommend Di2 for the Levo. I'm hard headed so of course I said let's make it happen.

Hey, so I’ve installed my Di2 now, how did you get on?
Battery in head tube
Went for the e7000 push button shifter
XTR rear derailleur
3port junction/brain mounted under top tube in front of the shock mount, cables come out of top tube hold and into junction.
Very stealth overall
