Noise around headstock - bearings

Hello all,
Just got my Cube Reaction Hybrid Eagle. Loving it but 4 days in it started making a rattle like noise on rough ground. Pulled the fork out just enough to see the bearings and they were completely dry with a fine coating of rust dust. Cleaned and marine greased them and seems fixed.
So whats the go - is it common for dealers to not grease these bits?

Your bike has a cheap loose loose ball bearing headset normally found on lower priced bikes which should have been greased on assembly before it ever reached a dealer. That's an assembly issue with Cube's assembly factory. Not a dealer issue.
It could just be a one off "Friday" bike or it may be a bigger issue on the assembly line.
I'd let your dealer/shop know about it though so they can check any other Cube bikes they sell and contact Cube about it .
