Hello,

New to e-mtb but experienced mtber. My stamina has gone to crap so the e-mtb will hopefully get me back out there more.

I have only ridden a few times and had a chain break on my first big ride way into mosquito covered wetlands. Apparently the hot motor attracts mosquitoes. I had to run/push out, not fun with the bikes added motor resistance. I did get to experience about an hour of bliss prior to my chain breaking. I dropped for a better chain but must admit I have been paranoid and cautious on follow up rides. Building up a kit to not leave me stranded.

Bike is a Canyon Spectral On:7 and I am looking to do some upgrades along the way.

Looking forward to a good community here as the MTB forums aren't so friendly to e.

Regards,
Brian

Welcome Brian ..
I had a very similar experience not to far into my own emtb journey and have since learned not to put too much load onto the chain ..
I was luckier than yourself insomuch that although I was in a fairly remote area with a push to the nearest forest fireroad a guy in a pickup stopped and gave me a lift back to " civilisation"..that was also the only time I have left home without a spare link & splitter ..?
Welcome to the forum ..enjoy the journey ..

I have been mtbing for a while and I am pretty careful about not switching gears when climbing, but i think the e-assist kind of throws that off a bit and i need to be more careful. It might not feel like i have as much tension as i think. I think plowing through deep mud and dragging my derailleur did it. I need to avoid mud while in a low gear.

Thanks for the welcome.
