Hello.
New to the forum and to e-MTB in general. Recently purchased both a Giant Trance e+ and a BMC Speedfox AMP. I am 50 years old, a father, a husband, a cancer survivor, a recovered alcoholic, a controls engineering specialist, a former motocrosser/GNCC racer (terrible at it though), and recently an unabashed e-bike supporter. I discovered e-Mountain biking while reading race reports from the GNCC off=road motorcycling racing series and instantly got hooked.
I've owned the bikes about 45 days. I have lost 13 lbs. in that time frame. I feel, and look better than at anytime in the last 10 years (not saying I look, good just saying I look better than is typical for me) and I attribute most of this to intermittent fasting and the e-bikes.
After listening to many of the MTB purest complaints about e-MTB ruining the trails, and the world in general, as the source of all evil (very similar to the 2-stroke verses 4 stroke debate in motocross), I decided to buy an acoustic bike (for the kids of course) and see what the hoopla is about. I don't ride it much, and neither do the kids. My dealer said I can bring it back, and he will give me a full refund, if I put the cash towards one of his Focus Jam2 deals. I'm going to do it. End of debate for me. I ride on my own property mostly, where I have access to 45 acres of hilly woods, with some equipment to work on trails.
I have a great motocross bike, but find I prefer the e-MTB for the simple fact that it's safer, and easier. I joke with my co-workers, that I have actually been found tooling around the farm on the e-MTB, in my pajamas, riding wheelies and getting the mail. I am considering selling off the motorcycles, and this after riding dirtbikes since the age of 8! To say that the e-bike is a game changer for me is an epic understatement.
Ride on. Nothing to see here..
