I punctured my Allmtn 4 on day one too ! Day three punctured the other tyre! Both tubeless now

Same thing happened on my Shakedown ride on my Levo Hardtail.

Personal choice really. Tubeless is quite high maintenance and a bugger to set up at first if you’ve never done it before, but I think it’s well worth the effort

Look on the bright side ......... it could have happened before your ride or during your ride. At least you had a ride and got home without walking!

I suspect they are very closely related to the Cumbrian ones. The farmers round here are all out playing with their hedge-mangling toys and the roads and tracks have deadly carpets of thorns and other assorted varieties of shredded hedge.
