Received my new YT 29 Pro and assembled it yesterday. Pedals showed up about 20 min ago. Still waiting on bars and stem, but I’ve been playing around on it around my roads today.

I’m not quite sure why they put all these cable grommets all over the bike, when they won’t actually stay in the frame? Quite annoying as the cable and brake housings will eventually start to wear on the carbon. Not sure if this is a new thing, but it needs improvement.

Both of my brake rotors are warped and lots of loose bits. Clear to see they built it on a stand and never actually test rode it.

Looking forward to going for a ride, although I already regret not getting the Elite Mullet.

I don't regret getting the 29 over the mullet. I bumped the fork to 160mm and flip chip in low. Geometry feels pretty perfect now and the suspension feels so supple on this thing, I haven't found myself wishing for more travel. Not sure if is the weight of the bike or what, but I feel like the suspension on it eats up bumps better than my Santa Cruz Megatower (which is also awesome) that has and X2 and Fox 36. I've had to deal with some annoying pivot creaks and the rear eyelet bushing quickly wearing out (replace with RWC needle bearing). Other than that I'm stoked on the 29 pro build.

What is involved in increasing travel in the 36?

You have to swap out the 150mm air shaft with a 160mm one. The ebike 36 uses the fox 34 air shaft because the inner diameter of the stanchions is smaller due to the extra thickness. This is the part : Link

If you have ever done a lower leg service it is one step further. If not I would just have the shop do it.

You'll be putting a 27.5 on the rear in no time : >

What did you use for oil replacement volumes in all locations. The fox service page does not seem clear to me, especially since they don’t specify ebike 36 with grip 2

From studying the pages, this is what I’ve come up with. Just not clear if aim supposed to be using 36 or 34 specs...

Grip 2 Damper side volume: 30 or 40cc of 5w Teflon Fluid???
Air Side Bath volume: 10cc of 20wt gold for both 36 and 34
Air Side Chamber volume: 3cc of 20 wt gold for both 36 and 34

You would use the 36 guidelines. 40cc on damper side. This is a good guide, you don't need to worry about the cleaning aspects if doing it on a new fork How To: Servicing Fox Suspension Forks (Quick and Easy!)
Only the 36 ebike fork with fit damper is different in the table they show.

Thanks for all the information. I’ve ordered everything I need to do this now. I’m also expecting to find the negative air chamber over greased based on the fact that the front suspension became very harsh from one ride to the next.

Also planning inspecting the lower seals and foam rings. It seems that Fox does a sloppy job assembling forks based on every video I’ve watched.

Definitely not impressed with the postman dropper and especially the lever. Cheap piece of crap on a top spec’d bike. The cable is forever slipping in the lever crimp. Have to keep reseting it. At 1st I thought it was just cable stretch, but the cable was slipping. Tried to pull it snug and get a good bite with hold down screw and the body of the lever stripped. They are using too short of a screw. I’m going to let them know it broke, but I don’t want a replacement.

I’ll just go buy a proper lever and be done with it.

Too many little failures on a brand new bike with less than a hundred miles. I‘m not really sold on the value of direct to consumer bikes if this is the norm. If they are going to develop there own components, they should be making more robust parts.

Quick update on dropper lever. I wrote an email to YT with my input on the YT Lever and they completely agree. Although this begs the questions as to why they keep installing them on new bikes, they did offer to send a RaceFace Turbine dropper lever as a replacement. I already ordered a PNW Loam Lever, but I'll keep the RaceFace as a back-up, but I don't expect to need it.
