Well I'm now 2 weeks and 115miles into ownership of a new 2021 Trek rail 5 sx 625wh bike and liking it up to yet although still getting used to it after coming from a Focus Jam2 with the shimano e8000 motor.

First job was to replace the none tubeless tyres and fit a pair of Michelin E Wilds (never tried them before) always had maxxis before. And then before riding it I bought some Paint Protection Film and cut my own patterns and applied it on as much of the frame as possible to save the frame from getting scratched and to say it only cost me £18 and about 5 hours of my time I'm happy with the results.

First impressions of the bike is with it being a 29er that it doesn't change direction as quick but I will get used to that as I've been riding the focus for nearly three years now and 4500miles so I'm still comparing it to that.

Battery range seems to be ok up to yet with my longest ride so far being 35 miles with about 2800ft of climbing and getting back with 2 bars left, this is mainly on eco , then some emtb lite and the odd bit of emtb and turbo but these are only used for short steep climbs. I maybe did expect a little more range in the battery but I'm not sure if that was just wishful thinking.

I do find the eco setting not as powerful as the shimano eco which I think I have set on 35% and 30nm. I have no idea what the Bosch motors eco is set at. I'm also not sure if the motor is 75nm or 85nm, I presume with it being the 2021 model that it already comes with the 85nm update.

Possible future updates are maybe to buy the retro fit Kiox screen to show a little bit more info.
