Hi, my story Im sure is not unique but a little different to most. Im 55 and have been a keen cyclist all my life from racing BMX bikes as a kid, an early MTB user (had a ‘89 Saracen and a ‘92 Cannondale M1000), went full suspension many years ago with a Whyte 46, then switched to road bikes riding 5000KMs+ per year until recently I was diagnosed with moderate arthritis in my left hip which was aggravated by riding in a lean forward, aero prone position. So long story short, rather than buy a EMTB for the trails, Im riding one for medicinal purposes! And I have to say is really helping where riding 100KMs in one go causes no ill effects. The problem is here to stay, is just about prolonging my ability to ride and the EMTB in the upright position they give has been super helpful.
Not to mention I love it! Style changed to going fast as I can everywhere and being a weight weenie to feeling like Im travelling in a Range Rover being sat high above the traffic. Riding has become multifaceted and so fun again - not to mention engaging the brain from years ago on wheelie & bunny hop skills! :)
I will be hitting the trails/green lanes for sure as I find new routes but would say 50:50 with smoother tracks as an every day bike.
Anyway, thanks in advance for any assistance and hopefully I can pass on some knowledge too.
Cheers
