Hi all,

New member here, been lurking for a little while reading up on the Spesh e-mtb bikes.

Been a road cyclist for around 7 years, was also competing in Time Trials until I had a deep vein thrombosis in Oct 2017. That has left me with a blocked iliac vein and put an end to all competitive cycling (FTP was around 250, but can only put out around 140 now). Anyway, the DVT led me into MTB. I was a freestyle BMXer as a kid so getting into MTB has brought back all sorts of fun memories. Started with a hardtail, then bought a Canyon Spectral CF8.0 last year, followed by a dirt jump bike a couple months ago.

I live in the fens, so closest fun stuff is Phoenix Bike Park or Chicksands. Am also heading up to Twisted Oaks Bike park tomorrow to check it out.

Anyway, long and the short of it is I have decided to go e-mtb as will allow me to keep up with my mates on days out. Now the difficult decision of what to go for!! Currently trying to decide between 2018 Kenevo Expert (ex-hire @£3300), 2019 Kenevo Expert (new @£4675) or the 2020 Kenevo Comp (new at £5k).

Thanks!

I really like Phoenix, being fairly new to mtb it has really helped my jumps and drops. It is a bit limited there for the more experienced rider, but they are constantly adding more features

Cool - I spoke to the young fella who runs it (I forget his name, maybe Adam?..), when I was poking about his shop. He seemed really keen to improve lots of things, and fully endorses ebikes, as he spoke about a kenevo/levo for his knackered knees. Even suggested plenty of other trials outside of his bike park to go stretch my legs on too..

Is it there that you are looking to purchase from? I wish I'd have known about them earlier, as I'd have bought my spesh from them rather than from an hour and a half down the road from where I live... (y)

Trevor maybe? They are a great bunch there and often do rides out over Brandon/HL too.

I really wanted to buy from them and support them, but I'm getting it on cycle to work scheme and they don't accept the vouchers my work use ?

Been chatting to the guys at Berkshire Cycles as recommended on here, probably buying from them.

Nah it wasn't a Trevor. He's a short arse like me and I've got Adam in my head for some reason

May find you over HL through the winter, as I've just seen that Phoenix is having a revamp, and is closed until Feb..

Berkshire Cycles, is highly recommended on here for sure.

Hi, got a 19 levo comp, mate's got 18 levo. What ever you get in the price bracket your looking at will be good, but i would defo test all. think it's about £35 to test all the bikes at Phoenix. We ride Thetford a lot, with trips to Chicksands. Did twisted oak few week back that was good fun (for Suffolk).and phoenix is just down the road for me. Off to bike park wales next month, so really looking forward to that. Think there's about 6 or 7 of us in this area on the forum. Got my 19 from Rutland Cycles Histon, can't fault them for getting the bike BUT when i picked it up they basically rolled it out without really going through it and did not seem interested in setting it up which i thought was really Crap with the cost of it.Mate got his from Rutland as well but Peterborough shop and they we're great from buying to set up. You'll find alot of advice on the forum and every one I've come across has been friendly and helpful. Keep us updated on what you get .

I'm interested in your comments re Histon shop......bought mine there 18 months ago and felt the "manager" was not really interested in making sure my bike was properly set up or even the right size for me .....partly my fault as a greenhorn but never- the- less should have been better considering the cost. Wont be buying my "Derailleur less" next bike from them.

Give us a shout next time you head to Brandon or HL.

You might have to pay a 'warranty' charge, as the bike wasn't bought from them originally.. or at least, that's what I've heard.. update us if it's any different fella..(y)
