Unanswered New brakes on Torque:On 8

Hello all,

I will get rid of the SLX brakes on my Torque:On 8 and replace them with a pair of Saints that I have lying around. On my previous (non electric) bikes I learned that internal cable routing and my thick, clumsy fingers do not harmonize perfectly.

Question No. 1 therefore: Can the old SLX-cable also be used for the Saint? (Shimano sells different cables, but that does not necessarily mean anything ...)

If not, does anyone even happen to have any experience with how easy / hard it is to install the rear cable on the Torque:On?

Question No. 2 regarding the rear brake rotor - and sorry if this is a stupid question, but this is my first EMTB: Will I be stuck with Shimano Rotors with integrated magnet forever or is there a magnet mount for other centerlock rotors or even one that can be used with a centerlock-adaptor? I have in principle nothing against the Shimano rotors, but they are quite expensive and - more important - not always available at short notice.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I assume when you say "cable" you really mean "hose", or else we're not on the same page at all. To the best of my knowledge, Shimano doesn't label their brake hoses with SLX/XT/Saint and so on. They just have model numbers without groupset designations. (BH90, BH59, etc). You just need to do the homework to see if Saint and SLX use the same model brake hose.

Depends on how your magnet is positioned on the frame. I use this successfully on my Orbea Wild to make 6-bolt rotors work.

For centerlock this might work. No guarantees either way, just have to pay your nickel and take your chances.
