From what I know its not a regular cx gen 4 and that's the reason its "painted" like a prototype wrap on a car.
They couldn't write its a new motor on the specs so that's why it shows the current version written.
The SONIC EVO AM 3 Carbon model proudly demonstrates the new Bosch motor. Also a high-capacity PowerTube battery, a fork with a stroke of 150 mm and a derailleur and brakes from Shimano.
They've only recently released the mini remote and system controller for the gen4 smart system.
That video was from July, but at the same time all of that was released.
It seems unlikely that they'd release a gen5 or a super smart so soon after. A lightweight maybe, but that seems an unlikely combination for that bike.
@Dave_B the "bes3" is basically the Gen4 with smart system (as you have on your Rail) - same motor but different electronics.
...agree with the a bove. A number of reviews have called the "Smart System" version of the Gen 4 CX motor, new, when it is in fact essentially the same. The electronics are however different to work with the CAN FD Bus used with the Smart System and the electrical ports match the plug and play common push fit connectors on Smart System cables.
There is at least one other difference........the "connect module" which provides a bike alarm and tracking function comes with a bracket that fixes into bolt holes on the non drive side of the mag motor casing. Dont think those bolt holes were there on previous CX Gen 4 motors.
