Eventually, after 3 weeks, my cycle scheme got approved and a big box arrived. Removed said item from box and got to work with my parts bin. Off with the new and on with the old!
I know how much of a pig 35s are to set up and my neighbours complaining of them, so the first thing to go on was a set of Zeb ultimates
You can have the bontrager grips too!
All my big travel bikes run Shimano Zees, and my hardtail was given a set of MT520's, which are for all intents and purposes, very similar internally to the M640s. The tetkros will be going to the parts bin. Straight swap since the thread at the calipers and levers are the same pitch, mated to SLX M7100 levers which I had spare.
Stuck on a set of magic marys front and rear (tis the season for them and that's what I used when I was on my enduro for riding in the south west).
So, the golden power hour arrived and it was time to shred! I have to say that the added weight on the back end meant that I had absolutely zero reservations on the damping and performance of the deluxe shock. Anybody who ran a Deluxe thru shaft on a <MY21 Remedy would understand where I'm coming from, where the rebound could not be slowed down unless you were at 30%+ sag! I like a firm, settled rear end, and this one hit the spot. I've found that the zebs blow through a lot of the travel in the mid stroke but not once did I feel like it was unsupportive on the steeps. It feels taut and responsive. My missus needs to give the bike a shakedown too and see how it compares to her remedy and my mega, but ultimately, this was a bike for power hours and pregnancies, just so she can expend less effort going up and just flow on the descents. I'm impressed by the tour/eco mode and how much like an analogue it feels, but the EMTB and moreso the turbo mode feels like a V Twin pulling you effortlessly on midrange.
I think that's all the upgrades I have planned for the time being - perhaps a mudguard and maybe a fabric cell saddle to be in keeping with the rest of our other bikes
