Need Help Please?

Ok so getting ready for a camping trip. My nephew jumped on my bike and broke the chain and the front chain guide. I have a spare chain but was wondering if i can ride it without the front guide? It looks like the threaded part on inside of casing broke. Wondering how easy it would be to replace and i don't the local shop would have something like that in stock.

The chain doesn’t stay on the front sprocket all that well for me on rougher technical terrain even with the chain guide intact.

Did the metal threaded anchor pull through the right side motor cover? If it did you’ll probably have to replace the whole cover. That’s going to involve removing the sprocket and spider with a gear puller. Any Specialized dealer should have the cover and chain guide in stock.
It’s quite common for people to step on the chain guide and break it or the screw holes to break on the right side motor cover.

yes the thread anchor pulled through. Hopefully they can fix it pretty quickly. If not i hope they have the pars and a puller and i can take it with me, and if the chain doesn't stay on i can somehow figure out how to fix it there. Is it a hard repair? Seems like you have done this before.

I was thinking of using jb weld like you said. I am going to the shop and see if they have the parts and can do it. If not i will get the tools and use jb weld if chain doesn't stay on. How do the cranks come off? I tried but get about half a turn and it gets tight again.

Keep turning the bolts are self extracting

Sorry didn’t see this at first. Yes this happens to a lot of Levo owners. The hardest part of replacing the right side motor cover, removing the lockring and then the spider. Both of those require specific tools.

You can use a 24mm socket instead of "C".

8mm Allen Wrench or Socket
A gear puller
The black round thing in the fore ground is the Levo bottom bracket axle cap to prevent the gear puller from damaging the threads.
I prefer the ISIS crank bolt top right because it threads in and is easier to aquire.
And a splined lockring tool

My chain guide also failed. After taking off drive side cover couldn't find the backing plate so just welded a nut to a washer and sanded down an old one up chain guide. Locking nut comes off with gentle persuasion from hammer and screwdriver, though tightening I had to make a quick n dirty tool. Also a coin works as a bracket axle cap with the gear puller.

does anyone know what spline lock ring tool it is from park tool? trying to find these tools on amazon

you can just order the chain guide from local specialised shop, I did ask to make sure backing plate was included so just double check.

I ordered the tool should be here friday. I think if i have problems running without guide i am just going to jb weld the guide to cover and then order a new guide and cover and replace whole thing.

Thanks everyone for the help. I ordered the parts for chain guide, but will take some time. I jb welded the nut to the washer and hopefully it will hold. Was not to hard to take everything apart. Hopefully goes together just as easy

There shouldn't be any load on that when you are pulling the crank off...

Thank you for that. i will put a socket on there to get away from shaft next time. I tried to weld a nut on a washer but it was to long for motor to clear. I want to hardware store and found this. I cut it down with a dremel to fit perfectly. this worked well so far.
