I got the missus to drop me and the bike off at Cocking with the intention of going west along the South Downs Way to meet up with her at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, and do a couple of laps of the blue trail, However things didn't go according to plan. 3.5 miles into it there is a good steep downhill run, which was great fun till I burped my rear tire . I went tor my pump in my back pack to find it not there. OH CRAP. Oh well pull the phone out and ring the missus and tell her to turn round and head back to Cocking and I will meet her there when I can, I now have to push my Haibike with a flat up this bloody great hill, Jesus, hills are steeper going up than going down.

When I got to the top I rested for a few minutes when a helpful cyclist came along with a pump and CO2 pump. That got me going again but only as far as the car. I was completely knackered so our good day out was ruined because I didn't double check my back pack.

On the brighter side, I now have a new mini pump and a CO2 inflator on order.

We live and learn ?On my first solo ride, I forgot everything, I had no equipment whatsoever. I didn't even check tyre pressure before I left and since it was before I went tubeless, got a snake bite puncture.

On my thousands of miles of commuting, I always have spare tube, levers and pump and never had a puncture. I guess the equipment somehow wards off the puncture fairy

I will always carry a spare tube and pump with me now.

Stuff Tyre with grass and tootle back is what did when proper shredded a Tyre side wall and tube wouldn't work
My dad told me about stuffing a tire with grass 40 odd years ago, and I even tried it it once, (didnt work for me)

I did the grass thing 20-odd years ago somewhere in deepest darkest Wales and it was enough to get me home. I wouldn't try and continue a ride on it though.
