Mullet conversion: can the Yari 29 handle 29x2.8

I would like to convert the Felt Redemption E30 from a 27.5 bike to a mullet with 29er up front, making it a little slacker and raising the bb a bit. The 150mm Yari OEM on my bike is a 29er fork and based on my research its possible to fit a 29inch wheel, but can I use it with a 2.8 or 2.6 tyre? Also, do you think it would be too much of a geometry shift to put a 29er up front and increase the travel from the OE 150mm to 170mm ??
