Moving from 2019 YT Decoy to what?

So I have a 2019 YT Decoy with a E8000 motor and 540wh battery.

I use my eBike to climb up so I can have fun coming down. I don’t use it for trail/xc riding. Living at the base of a ski field and also having a bike park near by that I can bike up, the climbs last about 15-25min on road or fire roads. I put it in boost as much as I can, but find I am running out of battery sooner than I’d like. Ideally I would also like a little more power to get to the top faster or help me keep up with friends on more powerful bikes - with my e8000 being 70nm.

I initially started to look into a new 740wh battery but there are non available where I live at the moment. I have started to look at upgrading my bike instead to something with a bigger battery, more power and just generally more modern.

it seems the Bosch Performance CX may be slightly more powerful than Shimano, and I’m not so keen on the knock I hear about from the ep800, although the ep801 has perhaps fixed this? I would also like a motor that has the least drag as possible both when exceeding the speed threshold when pedalling on the road to the climb, then also when coming down.

Based on the above info, I’d be keen to hear if the Shimano or Bosch is more appropriate (or if there won’t be a noticeable difference). I’m not opposed to a Specialized with their Brose motor, but I think I’d like a bike that is a little more aggressive geo wise than the Levo and the Kenevo looks good but has a smaller battery than I have now.

I am considering a Commencal Meta Power SX that comes with either Shimano or Bosch. I’m not looking to break the bank as this isn’t my only bike.

I like the way the Decoy rides, so I could maybe wait till they are back in stock with the newer motor and bigger battery?

Was in a very similar situation upgrading from a 2018 meta power with same motor and 630wh battery. Bike aged really well, almost still relevant today in many ways (after mulleting it and upgrading the battery)

Not so much a recommendation but a warning: a more powerful motor will drain your battery much faster, so you need a big battery upgrade to compensate. But then you will find your new bike weighs 2kg more than the old one, so rides a bit different. Basically, don't expect to be blown away unless you double the original budget of your decoy.

I went for a giant reign with an 800wh battery, its a bit more powerful, a bit faster and has much better range.

Current top models with a bosch 750wh would be the orbea wild or canyon strive:eek:n.

Specialized and commencal are a bit behind the times I would say, we expect quite a big update to the levo soon enough and commencal only spec a small 630wh battery on their bikes. Great bikes, but not sure they are meaningful upgrades with respect to your bike.
