Riding my 2019 Levi Comp Carbon tonight and noticed the motor temp was 63C after the ride...the air temp was 27C. Is this normal?

I don’t think that’s particularly unusual especially if you were climbing steep inclines, hauling weight or just generally riding hard for extended periods with air temp at 27ºC.

In any case, thermal rollback would kick in at temperatures well in excess of 63ºC and long before meltdown. Still pretty hot for a Mag S...can't seem to get my Alu S above 50ºC but summer is approaching fast so I expect things will heat up.

Ha good question! I don't know - guess max winding temp would be at least 100ºC theoretically as high as 150ºC. I'd say that's doubtful & more likely on the conservative side.

That's kinda my question about electric motors...when is "too hot"? I learned alot by racing go-karts...if an internal combustion motor is at 100C its all good...but 150C is the danger zone (I destroyed a couple when they got that hot). Seems like an electric motor (with a rubber belt) may be in danger at much lower temps...maybe 100C but I just don't know. I have already had 1 motor spit the bit (not sure what happened but it sounded like the belt shredded).

I did race this bike for 60 minutes at FULL assist. I didn't look at the temp during or after the race but I will next time. I worry next time it may get too hot and reduce power when I need it most or cause motor damage.

I have read in German forums that our Brose motors use the "Gates HTD 405 5M 15" belt. This should not be operated above 100° C.
Allegedly the engine regulates the power from 85° C and finally switches off completely.
Everything only hearsay!
Maybe @specialized-rider-care can enlighten us?

I left my TL in full sun the other weekend and the motor packed in for about 30 mins until it cooled down. After riding a few miles unaided I was very pleased when it turned back on without error :) Don't leave it sitting in full sun is the message here.

Yes, fairly normal in my experience.
I have seen as high as 66 degrees C on my 2019 Levo Carbon comp but this temperature or anywhere near to this temperature is always when climbing long steep trails on Turbo in Summer in my area.
The battery temp also goes up as well but not seen that go any higher than 36 degrees C. I do not know what the actual cut out tempertuture is though as I have never reached it yet. As @McInner1 says maybe @Specialized Rider Care can comment on this query.

BLevo outputs all of this info ‘live’ as you ride (see below). You also have the option to review in even ‘more’ detail after the ride is finished if you so wish (see below, below which is one page of about 5 available for you to view)
