Have you measured the speed of the bike with an independent app / watch? Most ebikes over estimate there speeds but when measured using a smart watch or strava you will see your going slower than reported.
For example on my bike 25kmh on the display corresponds to 24kmh on my watch. Every speed is off by about +1kmh

My Whyte E180RS bosch motor shuts off at 16.7mph. The indicated speed can only be as accurate as the rear wheel overall circumference size assumed in the software. Whilst the wheel rim circumference can be accurately specified, it could be wrapped in anything from a 2.3 to a 2.6 tyre and tyre pressure could also vary.
Given it measures distance and speed by wheel circumference x wheel revolutions it is still likely to be more accurate than most GPS devices!

My wheel circumference was set 10cm too large and it made the speedometer over read. But that would generally reduce the cutoff speed while the bike speedometer still read 15.5mph
For the speedometer to read 16.7 it's either cutting off at too high a speed or the "speed +/-" setting has been altered in the bike's settings.
Which alters the readout but not the actual speed of the bike !!

As above check with a GPS, or compare a ride on Strava with the distance that the bike claims you've ridden.

lf the bike is doing a genuine 16.7mph then l would say you are lucky and have got a good one

Going to check it today using various methods to compare.

Since l reset my wheel circumference using Stunlocker the bike odometer is now within 0.5 miles of Strava GPS on a 20 mile ride.

Before, the bike would claim l had done around 21.5 miles.
Now, it will say around 20.4
That's close enough for me. The bike will also be slightly faster, not that l notice any difference when riding it.

Mines the same. Cuts out at 16.8mph on purion display but actual speed on my phone is 15.6mph.

You can adjust the display to read the correct speed if you want, there's a setting in the menu.
lt's good that you are getting the full 15.5mph according to your phone GPS.

My Kona with the Shimano E8000 was cutting the assistance at 14.7mph likewise my friend's Cube with the Bosch motor.
He's not bothered about it but l got mine to 15.5 mph by adjusting the wheel circumference to the correct value using Stunlocker.

I seem to be covering a lot more miles than my purion is showing for some reason

lt's an app that you can use to alter the settings on the bike (Shimano motor)

lt's like the Shimano app but you can do more adjustments.

HI,
I have a touring hybrid pro 625, just love it but back to the query.
As I understand the way the control software works it is a gradual reduction in motor assist from 15.5 to 16.5. This is done on purpose to stop the brick wall effect of full motor assist at 15.5 mph then nothing. It makes for a more normal riding experience. I have a nyon display and monitor this reduction everytime I get to this speed
