Merida one60 500 battery switch

Hi everyone. I went to pick up my wife’s new Merida one60 500 yesterday - to find that the handlebar controller does not have an on/off switch. The on/off switch is mounted on the downtube. That on/off switch is impossible to press / access when a (side entry) drink bottle holder is mounted in the correct location. This seems like such a dumb design. Has anyone here figured out a solution? If so I’d love to know the work around (At the bike shop we tried fitting a different Shimano controller that did have an on/off switch but that didn’t work).
