i hope this post will help somebody someday...
the ancient battery still costs almost 400 euros today.
i didn't want to invest that.
simply opened up the dead battery pack, removed the dead battery.
ordered a cheap china battery along with a charger and installed it next to the plus/minus of the original battery. ignored and isolated the yellow sensor wire. the new battery has its own BMS and charging port....
used a soldering iron to melt a hole in the housing and pulled the new charging port outside.
works perfectly and cost less than 100 euros.
was worth bringing back to life my actually nice MATRA i-STEP.
