After riding some dirt roads followed by some salted roads, my linkages were all blasted in a salty mess. I cleaned it them all off with fresh water then created a nice fender that seems really effective. It was made from an SKS Shockboard XL mountain bike front fender. I clipped the nose piece off and threaded it in front of the link cross member, then behind the pivot, and tie wrapped it at the top. I used clear frame tape on any of the places where the fender touches. It works really well. Last ride my linkages were clean despite riding muddy roads. Images show the fender that I took the nose from, then the front and back view of the installation, and finally the rest of the fender scabbed back on. There is a good 1/2 inch clearance everywhere.
