If anyone has any feedback about the M820 motor, please let me know and I can pass it on to bafang company!
Am I the only one to find a power loss after a big climb in boost?
The display still says I have the max power in watts but I feel like it’s not the case.
Otherwise @JimLee-Lightcarbon , I attached a video few weeks ago on the marbles noise, it must be on the motor forum

I haven't done any big heels. Majority of the trails near me have 150m of elevation. In this time, I don't notice any power loss, even in boost.

Regarding the M820, my biggest complaints are:
-loud going uphill
-very loud rattling noise going downhill. It is quite distracting
-too long over-run in higher assist modes. In eco, for example, it is not that bad.
-ability to not only tune max current for each assist mode (in besst) but also how it is delivered.

For example, max current sets the max power(height of the curve), but it would be great, if we could also tune the slope of the curve:

But for now, my biggest complaints are the rattling and whiny noise going uphill.
I would gladly buy updated motor next year (for example) if those would be sufficiently improved.

how much vertical climbing in boost you have to do, to notice power decrease?

what wheel/ tyre size is everyone going with ? i was thinking of sticking to a 27.5 front and rear with either a 2.4-2.6 tyre but wondering if i should step up to 29er? im a shorter rider hence wanting to stick with 27s but it seems there on the way out and everything i look at is 29er so seems logical to go that way to keep things simple and easy in terms of parts. it also looks like this frame was optimised for the 29er platform. has anybody tried the frame with both sizes and have feed back? i had thought about mullet but have gone away from that idea now any input welcome . cheers

You’ve opening a debate on this subject.
I run 27.5 x 2.8 because ride I mud and dirt, If you ride mountains with rock and hard then 2.8 is probably not the answer, the frame is really designed for 29 so I think 27.5 x 2.4 is to small.
27.5 x 2.8 works great on my frame.

I plan to ride 29" wheelset on trails and use my mullet enduro bike wheelset on gnarlier downhills/parks.

27.5" isn't going anywhere so you be fine there, but your bb would be very low, so at least a shorter crankarm would be recommended.

Hi again! I also bought from this seller. Now I tried to connect the motor, and everything seems fine but the speed sensor seems wrong. I got a four pin cable connection, but the motor has an eight pin connector for the speed sensor..
Can someone confirm what the correct speed sensor cable looks like?

I finished the battery, 48V, 720Wh and 2878 gr according to my kitchen scale.

You make 48V battery, but if I am not wrong, the M820 engine comes as 36V or 43V with the LCE 930, right? Do you have your own BMS? How did you plan to connect it with 36/43V motor? Or it is enough to change the firmware to 48V? Thank you!

What material did you use to make the mounting plates?
I just cut out pieces from an old plastic cutting board. Then taped them to the batteries, put cellfoam between and finally shrinkwrap around it. I should have made them thinner because now I have very small space on top of the battery for cables.

The 43 V software only goes into surge protection at 55.9 V. So enough room for a 13S battery with 54.6 V end-of-charge voltage

I ordered motor-kit separetly, you can get it in either 36/43/48V from Risun Motor, price is now over 100€ higher!
I think you can flash any firmware with besst tool, motor is the same.

BMS is just standard 13S from aliexpress, BeMuchSafer

Finished my bike, but after charging got "error 07", overvolt. So it seems I got the 36V firmware version, motor seller promised to send me parts and show how to change it. I guess that means besst tool?! So more waiting for now! ☹️

Took a short ride and feels very much like analog bike, geometry is very good, not much resistant from motor. Can't wait to get motor running..

Looks awesome. What was your final weight with that bigger battery? Love the color. Bummer about the 36v, seems that happened to several other people as well. Great job on custom battery!
