300+ Riders climp 2400 ft Kennedy Trail Thanksgiving Morning at 8:00am and throw a party at the top, bringing food and cheer to share. I’m usually out of town but not this year. It was a brisk 48F at 8 so getting on the move was a good feeling. I did get a few calls of “cheater” as I passed folks struggling up the hill which I replied “ you are just jealous” as most were in good spirit. I was in the first maybe 50 up the hill to the top where I was greeted by Santa Claus handing out See’s Candies suckers. There were excellent stuffing and turkey nuggets, cheese and cracker plates, some guys hauled up a chest full of steaming hot homemade cheese tamales but the best was a group who hauled up in a cart towed behind a Mt. Bike which they took turns riding a whole roasted pig which they shared. There was coffee being shared in small cups, a portable blender making margaritas, bottles of tequila being shared in small plastic shot glasses. The Open Space rangers put on the event and bring up garbage bags in their trucksto leave the trail clean after the party.
I wore my EMTB jersey as the outer of my 5 shirt layers

See my photos. If in town I will do this again in the future!
