Hi everyone

I’ve noticed today that I have a few loose spoke on my Specialized carbon roval wheel

The wheel is true it’s just 3-4 loose spokes

Is this something that say most people can just nip them up or does this mean bigger problems and I need a professional shop to tighten them ?

Never had spoke come loose before

Many thanks

Loose spokes = Broken Spokes
Tight spokes = Broken rims

I wouldn't take it to the Bike Store Boys. Too many of them think they're Yo Yo Ma and can tune a wheel or a cello by ear. If they could do that, why are they in a bike store and not the London Philharmonic? Get yourself a tension gauge and do it yourself. The low-tech Park tool is fine. A truing stand is ok, but hardly necessary considering the infrequency with which you'll be using it.

Spoke tension decreases dramatically when a wheel is new and is breaking in. It's a good idea to check the tensions (front, rear, left, right) when a wheel is new. Tune it up at 150 miles and 300 miles, matching the way it came from the factory. After you're sure it's stable, then you can go much longer between check-ups.
