First post here, I have been riding MTB's since about 1990, manly trial riding and out in the mountains. In 1997 i brought my current bike which has and is still serving me well, although it has covered many miles off road. Proflex 857 with XT and Hope hubs disc etc. But looking to retire from work next year, so thought I would treat myself to a eMTB as some of these uphills are taking a tool on me. At the moment I have my eye on either a Trek Powerfly 4FS or a Orbea H25.

The photo below was taken on Tuesday this week whilst out on a full day ride out in the hills.

We’re happy with the PF 4 hardtails. Great for most of the trails here. The Bosch motor with the 500w battery takes us 60km+ on a single ride. The Rail 9.7 625w can outlast me when I head up the mountain. I like the technology on the new models though.

Have u test rode bikes? I bought the first eeb I rode . A hardtail cube . Then started riding over everything and everywhere . I told my girlfriend it was dangerous riding the cube . And we both believed my bullshit and I spent a small fortune on a carbon levo . I'm not a big fan of the massive wheelbase of the levo although I'm shore it's saved me a few times from crashing . I think its perfect though for work commuting and getting to fishing spots. So yeh get a e bike already bro .

Nice old proflex there, That C2's on sport levers:unsure:
Dont ever split it, the forks quite sought after and ive seen some cracking builds based on the linkage fork.

I have spent too many years riding the Proflex, and have no intention of getting rid. It will now get a well needed service and still go out for the odd ride.

Yeah. That's how you do it . Glad ur in the game . Those orbeas look sweet . Not shore if your other bike was tubeless or not ? Maybe the orbea will be when u get it ?

My proflex was not tubeless. And I have kept the Orbea as tubed at the moment (the dealer gave me two extra tubes with it as spares) plus he did say that he can change it to tubeless on the first service if I feel I want it.

Managed to get out today for my first ride on my Orbea which I have had for a week now. Just a 20km quickie with a 500m climb to the summit of a local mountain. Rode the bike in 'tour' mode with a bit of 'eMTB' mode on the open moorland. Really liked the feel of the air suspension compared to my 24 year old proflex. Plus I managed to ride sections that would of been unreadable to me in the past. So looking forward to getting out for a longer ride next week.

You are hooked, there is no going back now. Now you just need to navigate the slippery slopes of the upgrade hill. Assist only makes this hill harder
