After 1300+ miles I decided to swap out all the suspension bearings as the rear seat stay ones were definitely dead. During the swap it turned out the axle was indeed loose in the linkage (but no undue creaking). Contacted the dealer and they did a warranty claim and the parts have just arrived.
Happy days!! It's the new style 2 part kit - with suspension yoke, linkage and the screws and spacers etc - all new bearings installed. Shame I'd put the kinetic kit in the old one, will be pressing them back out for spares!
Also got a new rear axle and freehub to replace the 'chosen' ones that died a long time ago - gives me a spare wheel/tyre option now if I want to go a bit lighter in the dry!
