Life of range extenders if being used rarely...

Currently looking at a Bosche SX/400kwh bike but am thinking about complementing with a range extender. However I have read that lithium battery systems in general degrade if they are in storage most of the time and not being used. If a range extender is only being used once or twice a year (meaning only charging and discharging once or twice a year) is that going to be a concern where it would need an early replacement after 4 or 5 years?

Just don't store it at 100%, and it will suffer very little degradation. Store at 50 to 80% and only charge to full, just before you want to use it.

50-60% is the sweet spot for storage. But it's not always possible to get it down to 50%. Plus it allows for a little leakage, in the months it's stored.

Greater than 12 months without use can affect some lithium ion batteries. Just use it at least once a year.
