Just want to share my thought on my craigslist's Sram rise 60 carbon with XX1 11-50T Cassette (LOL Missing one tooth on the lowest gear... ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°) should really call it a 11-49T) on my Stock NX derailleur!
Setup: To my surprise, it's not a direct boot on. The New High low limit and the cable tension have to be readjusted. But once it adjusted correctly it's shifted as it should be.
Handling: Tested my bike with the power and nonpower assist. For the nonpower assist mode, I can feel a big difference in terms of the effort of initial peddling. To put it in word, it's a lot easier and faster to gain velocity, Snappy, and did I say fast! ٩(^ᴗ^)۶ With turbo modes on, it's much less apparent but I still feel the difference.
Mixing up with Carbon rear and Alloy front wheels: Did not have a chance to try any black diamond run yet. But from my regular local blue-ish offroad trails with some jumps and fast descent. It behaves absolutely fine, with no indication of its top-heavy or imbalance.
Conclusion: lighter rear cassette and wheel do make a good measurable difference in terms of initial peddle efficiency..... given if you can find good deals around. But it's very debatable if I have to fork out an average $1000.00 for the carbon rim and another $450 for the cassette.
PS: Giving my luck I am able to purchase a XX1 cassette with a carbon rim less than the price of an I9 hub. But I think the result of my experience will be pretty close with just the GX cassette and rim upgrade.
Cheers
