Next month we go to Scotland, to ride some of the 7 Stanes.
To get there, I have to put my bike on a tow ball carrier, on a compact SUV.

As Scotland is known for the wet conditions...
Can it stand the rain during highway cruising?
The manual says even a garden hose can damage the components .

The bike covers I can find on the net are not suitable for tow ball carriers.

I am sure it would survive, but one of the reasons I don’t use a tow ball carrier is precisely because of this, especially during the winter when you are getting road salt etc thrown up onto the bike

Having said that I have definitely seen people using bike covers on tow ball racks

Recently I rode from The Netherlands to Italy in snowing and raining conditions. I took the battery out of the frame and put the electric connector which connects to the battery in a plastic bag which I fixed with two tie wraps. (according Specialized’s recommendation)

It worked fine. Good luck and have a nice ride!

I had a 90-min journey to the trail during which a thunderstorm was forecast. So I wrapped cling film around the motor and the display (battery is internal). Luckily it didn't rain as all the cling film was gone by the time I arrived! Hmm, I think the idea is worth pursuing, but it needs work! :giggle:

Stronger plastic, with zip ties or sticky tape might do the trick. Whatever, it has to withstand 75mph.

If I used a Velosock, I doubt I'd be able to get out of third gear! I'll bet the fuel consumption when using the Velosock is an absolute shocker!
