Hello there. Got an 2018 s works levo (500wh) and water damage (highly likely) has slowly killed the battery. I say slowly as over some weeks the led's started to dim, then turn red, then it took about 20 presses to turn the battery on. Then 5 days after having returned from holiday cannot turn it on at all now. It charges ok (cells seem to be holding charge), can see the led's flashing to 100% but doesn't turn on (remove charger, led's go out, press on button but nothing happens, no led's coming to life etc).
So many people have had this issue (all over forums), which is really disappointing considering it's a fully fledged mtb, that gets washed (!), and costs an absolute bomb to replace. Despite the warranty just expiring, Specialized are sending me a replacement as a gesture of goodwill. Thank goodness otherwise I'd have been pretty p's'd.
If possible, I'd like to get the battery fixed as it would be great to have a spare and it was never on my budget to be able to afford a spare.
Before I take it in for an overhaul (if indeed this is possible anywhere...?), are there any standard things I can check / replace for a non battery expert as 'standard to-do's' considering there must be a pattern with all the other duff water damaged units out there? Or is it generally damage to the mother board thing which I guess is a write off. I'd just like to try a few things, before it gets trashed. The only thing so far, is water repellent and a hair drier but no effect. Realise faulty units will have an array of issues...but maybe this particular fault with all the warranty requests has a standard problem which perhaps can be fixed? Cheers!
