Levo and the speed issue

Good day everyone, I am a newbie based in South Africa. A few years ago at a mountain bike event I had an opportunity to test ride a Levo. I was quite impressed with the ride and pedal assistance. I bought a Levo Fattie6 for my wife so that she could join me on my bike rides. The versatility of the ebike is wonderful. I get my usual workout on my mountain bike and she can ride with me and regulate her workout.
I enjoyed a few social rides with my son, but could not join him on training rides as he and his riding partner ride too far and too fast for me. The age difference is telling !!
So I bought a Levo Expert for myself to go on more rides with my son. The speed limit of the bike was an immediate problem, which I resolved first with the Light Blue app and then with BLevo. Uphills and downhills are fine, but on a level road I get left behind. I can’t pedal a 22kg bicycle with no assistance as fast as my son can ride a 10kg mountain bike. In my opinion, the speed limit is ill-considered for an off-road vehicle. At a minimum it is at least 10km/h too low.
We get our bikes with European software (24km/h), but our LBS was happy to install the US version (32km/h) to increase the speed. My bike went in for a service and it seems that the LBS installed an updated version of the Specialised software which terminated my use of Light Blue and BLevo to manage top speed. Trying to keep up with any standard mountain bike on a level road with an assisted limit of 32km/h is not possible for me.
Following a search of the web I found this forum and JD’s elegant and innovative mod to resolve the issue. I purchased his device and the courier is delivering it tomorrow.
I shall provide an update and comments on his solution next week.
Thanks, and I look forward to sharing and learning from you all.
