KMC E11 ebike chain or X11 mtb?

So, knowing now what we didn't know 2-3 years ago, do ebikes really need an emtb specific chain or have we now discovered that the standard 11 speed chains are strong enough for the ebike and that bike manufacturers are just using BS to try cash in?

My Levo originally came with the KMC E11 chain but due to wear and tear I replaced it with a Connex by Wippermann 11SB chain. A great chain though a little more noisy when things get mucky in the Welsh mountains but it has lasted really well.

Cost wise -

KMC E11 £35-£40
Connex 11SB £38-£45
KMC X11 £18-25

Your thoughts?

My Rail came with an XT chain, I replaced it at 900 miles 'because i thought I should'. How you look after your drivetrain is of far more importance than if it's e-bike specific or not. Any chain is more than strong enough if you're worried about snapping it.

I totally agree SLAP, my chain I cleaned, dried and oiled after every muddy ride but as I'm changing the cassette I want to replace the chain also. For £18-£20 I'm going to give the KMC X11 a go and see if it holds up.
