Is it possible to fit a front 29er on the Fathom E+ 2019?

Hi!

I was taking a look at my fork (Fathom E+ 2019) and it says that it is a 29' fork. Will this mean that I can fit a 29er at the front? I was thinking on 29 x 2,45. Will this make sense together with the 27,5 x 2,6 rear? What are your thoughts on advantages and disadvantages?

If it says it's a 29" fork then yes, it will fit a 29" wheel.

Did your Fathom E+ come stock with 27.5" or 29" wheels?

Definitely, adding a 29 wheel on the front, if your fork allows it, is a win win in my book. Slacken your bike about a half degree, front wheel doesnt get as hung up in holes or steep rollovers , more traction, more stability and carries a bit more speed and with the 27.5 rear you dont really lose any quickness in and out of turns and gives some extra breathing room for the twins.
You may want to slide your saddle ahead a bit to get that lost half a degree on the seat angle when you add the 29 front wheel but thats ez and souldnt need much of a move to get it back , if its even necessary

Hi! In this pic you can see the 29 label and the current clearance. Mine came with 27.5 x 2.6 front and rear.
If it is definitely possible can you please recommend a tyre width and what kind of wheel should I buy? I am confused about inner size, axis, rims, materials, etc... xD

In a local shop there is a 29 boost Wheel with 15x110. Is that what I need?

I know this is a cheap wheel, but I would like to try the feeling before expending lot of money in a better wheel. If it works and I like the feeling I would buy a better one and reuse the tyre.

Thats not a bad wheel. Most front hubs work fine. Its the crappy rear hubs that fail early . That rim is inexpensive but theyre pretty well built. Looks like its 30mm inner width so 2.4 or 2.5 front tire is a good choice.
51 mm is the fork offset. 44 or 51 are the options for your fork. 51 is a touch more stable at speed and 44 is more nimble stable at slower tech trails. I wouldnt worry about it

Are you sure about the offset ?
For me it is the opposite : 51mm is more agile than 44mm because long offset means short trail and reduced trail means more agile bike while longer trail means more stable.
But you're correct I wouldn't worry so much about it too.

If you have 29" fork, it takes at least 2.6

Yeah! I have just bought a 2.4 in a local shop and it seems to fit ok! (I don't have the wheel yet, I will get it in a couple of hours).

I think it is better to have the front 29 < 2.6 if I have a 27.5 x 2.6 in the rear, right?

Personally, I like to ride, front 29 "2.4 and rear 27.5" 2.6. But it is everyone's personal choice

I just got the wheel and you were absolutely right... with the 29 x 2.35 maxxis forekaster I bought I still have clearance for more... I will try and if it rides nice I will try something bigger

Thought this might be of interest to you. I purchased this 2019 model in February this year. It was a demo model and the tyres had been changed to Continental X-King 2.2’s.

Here are the pictures! I did not like the 2.35 front, so I swapped the tyre for a 2.5 (dhf) and it rides much better! So good I think now the rear (ardent race) is not the best companion for it

I wonder if this setup is better than with 29's on both... Now I am tempted to try, because I have that 2.35 forekaster spare tyre to try on the rear. I also wonder how that will affect the speed calculations because you can't set up the wheel size on the giant motor, and that's a shame because if you want a good speed measurement you are tied to 27.5 x 2.6

Hi! Additional question for my new setup

With the new 29x2.50 wheels front and rear... I am guessing the speed indicator won't be correct... right? It will show less speed than current... so... will I get support for slightly faster speeds?

I have been trying to compare the speed that the controller shows to a gps one... but it is hard to notice because the gps has some lag.
