Hello chaps - I cycled as a teenager, took a short break for 40 years and returned to road cycling 10 years ago. After doing the Manchester to Blackpool with 7000 others I sold my rockhopper, hybrid and carbon road bike and bought an e-gravel bike. I love it and it works just fine for trails, canal towpaths and the like. I found this forum because I followed an eBayer selling a Cube e-hardtail and missed the purchase by 10 minutes.

I am 72 years of age, love e-bike assistance, have nurse friends in their fifties who have the electric full suspension MTB's - Voodoo, Haibike and top of the range Canyons - and I am now looking to purchase a sub 21kilo e-hardtail.

I drove 2200 miles last year (Covid, init) and cycled 4200 miles road/trail. I just found out that I can travel free after 9:30 by train and now go some 30 to 40 miles no charge and then cycle back. So, no longer tied to start and end "loops"

A new member today, listed a Cube Reaction Pro this morning but I am second in the queue. If any members think they have an e-hardtail that might interest me then please tell me about it. Weight is critical as I have to squeeze it in the back of my Yeti and then sleep alongside it. (so not full suspension MTBs) Pics next post in case I screw up.

Don't be shy about telling me that I am the oldest member of the forum and I will field questions about leaving my bikes in my will.:)

Carbon hartail emtb's -- they've got to be like rocket ships.
By the way, Robb with two b's. I'm Rob with one b. Together, we get the trophies for first and second place in the oldest emtb'er competition.

Don't worry, you're a youngster compared to some here.

Why won't a FS fit in the yeti with you ?

And how tall are you so we know what to look out for.

Used to be 5ft 11 inches but shrunk to 5ft 8.5 inches as the burdens of life weighed down on me.

Welcome aboard from another brand new member. I’ve done a fair amount of riding over the years as well (turning 67 yo next month), and it just seems to get more enjoyable with each day’s opportunities to ride.
Good luck in your search!

It will @Zimmerframe but they tend to be heavier and my Giant Road-E is 19 kilo including 2.2 kilo battery so the bike gets loaded minus battery and water bottles. For ease of loading.

Thanks for the replies. I dropped my Giant off for annual service and called in at The Electric Bike Shop a mile away. As we were scanning the UK stock situation on the screen, a Cube e-hardtail popped into view so I claimed it and it will be here in 4 weeks. Low spec and 27.5 wheels but it will work fine as a second bike. For trail only.

Thanks for the responses.
