A friend has just bought his first EBike and looking to insure it. He’s getting quotes over 300 notes with stipulations of stupid size locks and chains whilst away from home ( who carries those in their backpack ). Any recommendations.

Check your home contents insurance, mine is cover for worldwide cover now and added £65 to my annual policy. Plus it should only be locked to a unmoveable object, or covered over if left in a vehicle.

Same here through esure , doesn’t need locking but obviously do !

I just checked into insurance for 4 bikes worth $34K dollars. My insurance wanted an extra $300 month and it's own policy because of the overall value. On my auto, it will only cover $500 in lost valuables. My homeowners will cover them if stolen from my house...but I'm worried about them getting jacked at a trailhead or restaurant after a ride.
