Hello all,

Just traded my 2017 Carrera Vulcan-e for a 2020 Cannondale Moterra 3+

Looking forward to using the Cannondale more than the Carrera as I only managed 120 miles in about 5 years 🤣

First task is some mudguards then where to take it for the 85Nm upgrade and possibly servicing.

Currently reading up on how to chip the bike as I would like 20 mph.

Lots of great information here so thanks to all so far.

How we all doin' today,,,,

If I'm reading the search posts correctly my FW is; DU 1.1.0.0 which should mean I have 85Nm to play with, happy days, unless someone pisses on me chips :unsure:

Been doing a bit of shopping, as you do 😂 and ordered these wee fellas;

Never thought to order a water bottle holder while I was at it, doh.

Can't just be me that has as much or more fun futtering as riding the thing 🤣

What do you fellas use as a stand?

Need to start reading up on how to fiddle with the suspension 🤔 that should be fun.

if you fit that dongle never take it to a dealer for a firmware update or it could brick it and i just use a cheap work stand.

Ohh that stand is half-price good shout thanks (y)

I read the entire 15 page thread regarding the Volspeed V4 for the Bosch Gen 4 (amongst others) and there was no mention of bricking anything, apart from my undercrackers now 🤪

Maybe I should just remove it or put it into service mode, no idea how to do any of that yet but I'm a fast learner most of the time 😀

Great source of information on here so thanks all.

Well my chip arrived in double quick time, Thanks Matt at Two Wheels Empire for the sterling service.

Just in case no one has ever seen what it looks like here you go;

So off with the rather lovely bash plate and in she goes, Grey plug at the top and the black plug is at the bottom behind the wiring loom,,,,

Applied a light smear of Dow Coring MS4 to all of the plugs and wiring, great stuff.

Wasn't happy with the chip rattling around inside the bottom of the frame, might sound like a big-end or possibly a top-end knock from the engine. Nothing worse that your laughing shaft rubbing up against your giggling pin :p so I fitted a little rubber boot to ack as a buffer,,,,

Refitted the bash plate to make sure everything is as it should be then wrapped the the loom with black tape,,,,,

Now the version of FW in my bike is DU 1.1.0.0 and everything seems to work swimmingly but maybe someone could confirm.

I seem to remember that the Gen 4 Bosch has 340% assistance but the VolSpeed book suggests 310% so my head keeps telling me it seemed to be pulling harder before.

Am I right in thinking it reverts to the standard FW when the VolSpeed isn't activated/switched on?

I haven't played with the Individual Assistance Modes yet so not sure what it is set for, anyone played with them?

Like a kid with a new toy at the minute LOL

Need to get the SKS MudHugger fitted when it arrives :unsure:

Am I allowed to say that I think the gears on the Carrera felt nicer to use that the Cannondale, not to mention they were a lot more accurate in the shifting pattern, unless there is something wrong with them :oops:

My Carrera was 2017 and I think the early ones were better specced than the later versions,,,surprise surprise the bean counters figured a way to make them cheaper. For instance my Carrera had hydraulic brakes, the last one I looked at had cable disc brakes.

I'm also not sure the suspension is set up correctly on the Cannondale despite the guy I bought it off was about the same size/weight as me, maybe he had no idea how to set it up either :ROFLMAO:

Is it only me that can neither imagine or envisage ANY scenario where the lowest couple of gears will ever be appropriate on the Cannondale :cautious:

Still not entirely sure about the seat raiser (it isn't a dropper if the lever makes it pop UP instead of DOWN now is it?) but I will admit it raises a few eyebrows, mine included on occasion o_O
