Are you running a 26" front wheel in the merida (27.5) fork? (or 25.5 in a 29er fork)

Good question,

Both rims are 27.5, but I hate the big 2.8 maxis tyres. So I've gone with 2.35 magic Mary's. But swapped the 160mm fork cartridge for the 170mm.

So little feedback from big tyres. Dh is my forte, so it's important I can really throw the bike dh

Massively agree with you on tyres. (from a DH/DJ background myself too)
It was the clearance under the rockguardz that made me think you were running a smaller wheel than the fork was designed for. (I run 26" wheels on a 2017 Capra with a 170mm 27.5 lyrik with the same rockguardz mudguard fitted and it looks really similar clearance wise). Probably partly the perspective in your pic. The Merida looks massive compared to the Levo too.

Are you keeping them both?

Yea the difference a few little changes can make!

The levo was my first e bike but my lad is 13 now and riding dh regional level so I got the merida for myself so we can both train over the winter. The amount of time on the track with an ebike is insane.

They are both large frames, but the merida is defo a tad bigger than the levo.

What bike you riding?

Vitus E-Sommet VR (Eeb) - it's really similar to the Merida but a tad slacker/lower
Capra (Enduro) - 26" wheels fitted to lower it and because I still prefer the handling of wee antique wheels
26" Session (DH)
Dartmoor Hornet (DJ hardtail)
(and an old re-furbished/modernised IH Sunday that still get's wheeled out ocasionally)
And a few more but those are probz the most relivent to you.

I see you're in Oswestry. guess all the old Pearce tracks are still running? sounds like you're in an ideal place for Ebike downhilling. Main reason I got mine is Inners is my local(est). but pleasantly surprised how well it rides even local tame XC

I really wanted the vitus but out of stock and no clue as to when 2019 models were out. Both vitus and merida are very similar bikes and both very capable!

I don't have a dh bike anymore, costs me all my money to keep my lad racing lol. He's on a myst carbon ex team bike. Yes we were at Hopton Woods today! I used to ride the pearce but now just my lad. I watch now lol. But still love to bang out the laps!

Guessing you used to live down here then?

All the pearce tracks are still alive and some new ones. The classics BRINGEWOOD, hopton are still great tracks. Hopton is great for ebikes. About 12-15 minutes ebike ride up.... Then a choice of 3 or 4 dh tracks, and good runs too. Worth the ride up

I told em that IMO all they needed to do was shorter cranks, seat tube like you say, and put an E7000 controller on it. I know they are sticking with air shock, no coil.
