Hey!

got my first emtb a couple weeks ago, haibike SDURO hardnine 1.0 (all my budget could afford me for now!)

so far I've been 200 miles on it and using it every day, it's amazing

already got my eyes set on a haibike allmtn 5.0 (or a similar spec bike, which i hope will be available for around 3500 by the time i get there :p)

haven't used public transport in about 10 years other than very rarely when I'm buying too much to carry on my mountain bike, since I just ride it everywhere

but after watching emtbn's videos for the past couple of months I really want to start doing trails and exploring more!

I find myself riding from my house in sunderland to south shields and back almost every day just for fun, never really measured it but I probably do about 20 miles a day in total, regardless of weather since I actually really like the rain!

the most i've done in 1 ride is probably 35 miles, I would have gone further but my seat came loose the 1 day I decided not to take my bag with my toolset in it. Typical! so i had to use full power and get myself the 8 mile journey home without sitting down, not so fun :p

my favourite rides are offroad with loads of bumps and loose footing so the bike is going all over the place, there's something fun about constantly having to fight for control that I love!

not sure what else to say really, but it was the best 1,800 i've ever spent :) the wait as I'm saving up for a full sus bike that can handle anything I throw at it is already killing me!

Sweet!

If it has a Suntour coiled forks you can find some nice & cheap Rockshox air forks for around 120-170€ later on.
A dropper seatpost is also pretty great :p

That should get you by until an allmtn lol.

I've the Hardseven 2018 with 27.5" and the OG Yamaha PW that is still running smooth after thousands of kms and a battery at 75% capacity.

yeah i was looking at those rockshox forks in awe, and I could afford them right now most likely, but while i love my riding, i've never really changed forks or anything before myself xD

i've got no problems at all with the seat, but i've also never used a dropper seat before so.. maybe that's another thing that'd blow my mind :p

Me neither 3 years ago, it's not hard with the right tools and documentation :). A great time to have a first look at it is when you'll need to clean & re grease your headset bearings. Or just pay a guy :p.

Yes droppers are mindblowing. Now that I think about it a good set of powerful lights is also real nice if you like exploring. Nightriding is awesome.

Anyway, enjoy the bike in its form. The suntour is great over repetitive small but harsh bumps. It's also pretty durable. It's just heavy, lack proper adjustments and very springy especially if you're lightweight.

Haaa the first weeks on the sduro... Hope it doesn't hurt to smile so much ;)

I'm always out and about after 11pm when I finish work, no phone maps or anything just thinking 'wonder what's over here' :)

don't have great lights at the moment, just good enough for cars/people to see me, but I'll pick some up next time I get paid so I can go through my local forests at night! (wish more bikes had them built in to the battery power as I constantly forget to charge them)

Trust me you'll be glad to have a portable and strong source of light if you have a mechanical all alone in the forest at night .

I also enjoyed riding after clocking off work at 10PM (still commuting with the bike). Watch out for the bats at night once you get your big light (not kidding).

haha, real bats :D It's terrifying. Light on the minimum setting and pointing down when I'm in their territory.
