The first one happened when it fell over whilst standing against the counter in the bike shop a week after I got it (10mm wide circular chip right down to the bare metal on the most visible part of the down tube).

I tried to get matching paint from the usual places (Bike shops, Halfords, model shops, etc) with no luck, and even tried some very expensive paint mixed at an auto paint shop. Despite looking reasonably close on the sample card, when on the bike it looks totally different when the light hits it from different directions. I think that is because it is metallic.

The auto paint shop said it was impossible to match without the relevant paint code, which Giant said they were unable to provide.

Since then I have had many chips which seem to occur with the slightest knock.

Even putting the battery on and taking it off results in paint chips to the frame surrounding the battery, no matter how careful I am!

Hi Nicho I think we have about the same with my worst been in the centre of the cross bar half on the orange & half on the blue only the size of a pea but really noticeable. I got in touch with local bike shop & they weren't much help!! The problem is also the depth of the chips so I will leave for the time being. How are you coping with the restrictions. We went down to the French Alps last summer & planning to go down in August with my new bike but looks really doubtful at present! Stay safe.

Hello Jacko, some confusion here with somebody else from Seaford posting either side of your post!

The depth of the chips was a big issue, with dozens of coats of primer and top coat needed, plus rubbing down to level it between most of the coats; many days of work!

The repair (as you can see in the second photo) is nearly invisible from certain angles and in certain light, but at different angles and light levels it stands out from a long way away.

I couldn't use it much last year due to a long-lasting finger injury, so was looking forward to much more use this year. With the present situation I am restricted to road rides around the nearby villages, of between 9 and 12 miles.

You're right there mate. its a nightmare. won't be long before we are cruising the runs together at Friston. we have found some amazing runs. shout out to who constucted them they are pretty cool.
