Hi, older guy went to e-bikes after a heart attack and never looked back. On 2nd e-bike now a YT Decoy. Currently trying to derestrict it -not easy! Why do Shimano make it so difficult as its no skin off their nose.

They have to make it difficult to comply with the law. It will only become more difficult as time goes by.

Your easiest option is probably Stunlocker, which has the added advantage that it's better than the shimano app to adjust the power settings for eco for instance. This would let you set the bike to US settings, so you'd have a 32kph cut out instead which is normally sufficient for most people.
