Hi everyone, i’ve been following this forum for a few months now and really like the good conversations, advices, infos that are posted, so i finally decided to join.
About me: live in Calgary, Canada. City of 1.4MM located 40 minutes East ot the Rocky Mountains. 80% of my riding is done in the mountains, mostly on my mtn bikes. 100‘s of Km of trails easily accessible trails from greens to double blacks. Calgary itself maintains over 1000km of regular bike paths and 100km of mtn bike trails. There is of course many more kms of unofficial mtn bike trails.
I’m now retired. Bought my first bicycle with my brother at 6 y.o. Owned 14 bikes since then, now have only 3. Have always ridden my bike to works (40 years), except when the temperature dipped below -10C and ice built up on the streets.
Bought a Trek Rail 7 last november (2020). Love the bike. Installed 49Nrth Wrathchild Studded tires and rode it all winter. Now have over 1700 km on it. This bike is fantastic, it’s taken places i havens been in years because you know age does it’s thing. It can climb trails i had to push in the past (25-30% grade), can take far and high in the backcountry, loves to jumps and alway, always put a smile on my face.
Cheers all
