Hi all, rider from North West... (y)

I recently got into downhill so bought a nice bike, I then converted my old bike to a commuting/light trail ebike using a rear hub motor setup. I now love riding my old bike more than my new (expensive) bike :p:cool: Anyway I have found a decent ebike frame that will allow me to swap out all my components from my new bike to an eBike.

The frame says it supports shimano e7000 & e8000 motor and my 2 questions, which I will ask in motors section once I've introduced myself but may as well as start here are.. .1/ where can I buy one of these motors from? (I have sourced a battery but and struggling with the motor) and 2/ Are all motors differnt mounts or could I put a Bosch motor on instead of a Shimano?

Thanks all.. ✌

They are all different mounts. Even the different Bosch Motors - Gen2 compared to the new Gen4 for instance even use different mounts.

The Shimano E7000 and E8000 and the new EP8 all use the same mounts BUT the new EP8 uses different wiring.

It's still very much an evolving thing, so advances in motor and battery design dictate that the way they're designed and then mounted will change.

If you've found a third party frame company who sell Shimano compatible frames, you might find they do a Bosch one also for example.

As for where to buy a motor - not always so easy. Though there are often some on various e-bays, but you'll probably have to look around. Sometimes links are posted on here when someone does find some.

For instance :

At the end of the day, you might actually find it cheaper and easier to just buy a second hand EMTB and sell your existing bike because of the difficulties in finding the motors. Decathlon were selling the older Brose motor a while ago, I presume they still are. Again, mounting will be different from the 1.2/1.3 Brose motors to the newer 2.1 Brose motors.

Good luck ! :)
