Hi all, miles of lanes, miles and miles, few cagers about, up the hill, down the hill, across the field, down the track to the pub...oh it’s still shut.
My poor car it gets driven so little now days. Splendid.
I’ve just started hot waxing the 3 chains I run on my sram 12 speed cheese grater after finding out it costs more to run this drive chain than a 100bhp motor bike!

3500 miles and the cassette is looking rather bedraggled...shifts ok though

You're doing ok, most of us take a cassette, chain and chainring to change mid ride.

Don't worry, I was taking the pee. You got 3500 miles out of your first cassette .. It's amazing how many people have power shifted their first cassette to destruction in 500 miles - hence the joke about taking replacements on a ride !

Never know how hard core people can be....pulling the leg of a new comer like that!

I have explained to a few people about the joy of quiet shifting....less noise less wear...just cos you can doesn’t mean you should ect.
Longevity’s the name of the game for me....£125 for a cassette, £25 for a chain .......made me think about going back to 11 speed but my experience of 11 speed was with the small front sprocket on the 3 gen motor...swings roundabouts...there is no escaping the planned obsolescence at this present place in mans evolution....not with state of the art, cutting edge Christ how much? I’ve never spent more than a grand on a car in my life chief.
