I’m a cube fan ..... looking at both of these bikes, I can see your problem choosing......the main thing is at least your not going to buy an overpriced Specialized
I’m sure which ever one you choose you’ll love it....they both look great bikes
Its a nice problem to have...?

For me Cube is like the Ford of bikes and Commencal is like a Lotus or Caterham. Whatever floats your boat.

I would say Cube is an all rounder, wheels
on the ground type of bike, and Commencal is more point squirt and send.

I'm guessing the cube you can get from a dealer and have local support ? So that might be a factor ?

If it's really a photo finish, then surely somewhere in your subconscious there's one you prefer over the other ?

Like them both to be honest, but any 1 of the 2 would be bought from dealers who are about 25 miles from me, so that's not an issue. With current sales and a verbal deal with the commencal dealer, both would be priced at £4590. Anyone know or have experience with the shimano and gen 4 bosch motors, goog/bad points?

I've just spent the day ragging my brand new 2020 Commencal 29 Team around Glentress. Treat everything I say with the hefty pinch of salt required for anybody so deeply compromised by confirmation bias.

Verdict?

F#@% me that was sooooo much fun :D:eek::D

I'm physically shattered from riding like a complete jerk. The bike's setup was a doddle because it's almost exactly the same geometry and suspension components as my enduro bike. I am 100% happy with my choice of the Commencal.

So coming out of the back of a season of enduro racing, I've been against the clock for so much of the year I've just been wanting to let my hair down. That's what I got today. Trail centre trails that I know well. Nothing particularly challenging. Just add speed.

That's how I've ended up physically wrecked. Knowing that the motor assist was there to give me a pick-me-up gave me the confidence to attack attack attack. Every bump was a kicker. Every dip was a pumped downslope. The motor just got a look in to boost me out of any corners where I overcooked it and scrubbed too much speed but mostly this thing was a runaway rollercoaster carrying a grinning, anaerobic idiot.

Potentially this was the best I've ever ridden a mountain bike. I've been doing this for 27 years.

So. Regarding the Cube vs Commencal choice. Let your heart decide. Submit to brand values. For me that was Commencal and I couldn't be happier. A bit more of a party brand where I perceive Cube as a bit more buttoned up. Commencal's can be a bit porky. Cube a bit prissy. Those are brand value comments and I've not researched whether they reflect objective reality.

I'm just really happy with my choice.

Thanks for the feed back guys, but I managed to find an Orbea wild m10 with 20% off and in stock, so I have hit the button on that. Thought that would have been well over budget but it's came in @£4796 which is only slightly more than the cube/commencal. Cheers

Sorry looking on my phone but it looks like the cube is a 4 bar (Horst link) and the commencal is a single pivot? Ive always been a fan of the 4 bar and feel they climb better than most. I've had plenty of fun on single pivots though, but I would personally chose the 4 bar.

Each to your own, never really bothers me to be honest, I ve had 4 bar and single pivots and enjoyed them all. Currently have an Evil Following and I would say it's probably one of the best I have ever had.

Just buy what you like, and enjoy the ride
