I have been riding on and off since 1988. Started with a Sterling Discovery Sport - Rigid, with 3X8 with Index shifting in the rear. I was the cat's meow. Then in 2003 I went with a front suspension 26" Haro Escape with disk brakes. I didn't think it could get better. After a house fire, the Haro was gone, so I got my first full suspension Salsa Big Mama - 29er with a 3x9 on it. I rode that bike for nearly 10 years and wore it out.
I read an article that said 'When you show up with a full suspension bike, you are there to ride. When you show up with a hardtail, you are there to party.' So I replaced the Salsa with a Cannondale Beast of the East 1. 27.5 plus, 1 by, and still have that bike. It is nimble and fun.
Some illness with long covid and I ended up needing an ebike if I wanted to ride again, so now I ride a Specialized Turbo Levo and love being back out on the trails.
I also dirt bike ride, race cars, dabble with German vintage cars, and essentially love anything with wheels, anything with a motor, or anything with wheels and a motor!
