My name is Andrew, I'm in San Diego, and I'm new to ebikes. I used to do a ton of biking and motorcycle racing when I was younger. Haven't ridden a mountain bike in 15 years though. The place I just moved to has 50-100 miles of mountain bike trails right beside it. So I figured now is a good time to get into it. I'm hopefully picking up a bike tomorrow. I've kinda narrowed it down to the Specialized Levo Base and Specialized Levo Comp. Which one do you guys think would be better for someone like me? $7500 is a lot to spend on a bike at my skil level, I think. But the shop said it was a lot better and would likely have better resale value too. I'd appreciate some input on this!

Welcome Andrew, sounds like a great opportunity to get an EMTB. I'm not an expert on the Levo as have been a recent convert to the Levo SL which is a different beast but loving my SL and have been a Specialized rider for years. With the two models you're looking at I think that one of the differences is the battery size 500Wh (base) vs 700Wh (Comp) which may be relevant depending on how long your rides are and how much climb you're anticipating. Obviously other spec differences but I'm sure there'll be some more expert views along. Let us know how your buying goes and if you can definitely worth a test ride or two to see how they feel and perform for you. Maybe also try an SL while you're at it and before pulling the trigger;) Look forward to some pictures(y)

Welcome, Andrew, from OC. Lots of intriguing trails down your way.

The price of a new bike is indeed a lot. But never have I said to myself, "Self, you'd have been a lot happier if you had bought the cheaper model."
