Hello Steve, thanks for your reply and the link. Sadly it doesn't match ...worked out I need a new Headset pressed in which takes the bearings since it is set up for loose bearings. I really prefer sealed bearings so I will take the frame to the dealer today and ask if they can press the new headcups in.....hopefully everything is in stock. My bike is a carbon fibre frame, so there may be some difference in the bearing set. Measure the outer diameters on the following bearings, if they are the same as yours, then all will be well. TH870E (41.8mm o/d) TH070E (52mm o/d)
Bearings by “Blue Seal” from www.trailvision.co.uk are recommended for bikes. They have max fill marine grease, strong double rubber seals, and ABEC 2 -Grade 10 balls
For headset bearings
Bicycle Headset Bearings- Blueseal Bike Bearings™
Blueseal Bike bearings are bicycle-specific bearings designed to withstand the unique challenges faced by a bicycle bearing. ABEC 3 rating, a complete fill of waterproof grease and close-contact rubber seals make Blueseal Bike Bearings™ the obvious choice for bicycles.trailvision.co.uk
ID codes: Top is TH870E (30.5 x 41.8 x 8.0 - 45/45) Bottom is TH070E (40 x 52 x 7 - 45/45)
On the TH870E, the E signifies a lip on the inside of the chamfered inner bore. On the other bearing there appears to be no difference between bearings with or without the "E".
Tip 1: Tighten the top cap first and check for looseness before tightening the clamp bolts.
Tip 2: Turn bike upside down and lever the bike wheel to see if any movement at the head tube.
Best of luck with that!................. I really prefer sealed bearings so I will take the frame to the dealer today and ask if they can press the new headcups in.....hopefully everything is in stock..........
