Fundamentally fixing the dendrite formation issue is a biggie for long service life. Being able to assemble batteries in plants without worrying about free metal lithium meeting Mr Oxygen is good too.

No doubt electric vehicles will be at the front of the queue if this tech makes it. The rather over-excited voiceover does spend a bit too much time dwelling on eventual, theoretical, "better than gasoline" energy density for lithium technologies which is a bit far-fetched compared to the research advising likely advance toward 900Wh/l when current tech is middle 700s. Not earth-shattering but a useful increment.
